Sum up to your audience the major points you’ve made and leave them with something to think about after they are done reading. Some writers argued for the five-paragraph essay or other formulaic models, on the grounds that clear expectations at least give underprepared students something to work with. Others advocated replacing the essay with more “real-world” forms that would force students to think in fresh ways. Whether you want to impress your professors or improve your CGPA, our college essay writers will knock out all your problems. The conclusion is your final chance to state your case, and it’s for this reason that it’s possibly the most important part of the essay. It only needs to be a few sentences long, but it should restate your essay topic and echo the arguments presented in your introduction without restating them. This ties the essay together nicely and reinforces the points made throughout the text. Basic Essay Structure

Basic Essay Structure 500 word essays are very common throughout middle and high school English curriculums, especially as book reports, or summaries of current events. You can easily check page count in word processors like Microsoft Word and Google Docs, but for a quick reference use our table below. A word count of 750 words will equal about 1.5 pages single spaced or 3 pages double spaced. Of course it will depend on the word processor settings, what font and font size you're using and page margins. Start with the most obvious or all-encompassing argument, as this will allow you to progressively go into more detail on each of the smaller arguments â€" one of the keys to a good essay. Next, decide your approach â€" how are you going to tackle the question? It's your essay and, as long as you keep relating your arguments to the question, you can take it in any direction you choose. it’s like different fonts take up different amount of space on a page, so does your specific handwriting. The best way to know your per page word count would be to look at past pages and count the number of words you write for each page. it’s time consuming, but any other estimate is bound not to be accurate since it’s so dependent on your handwriting. Why is everything word count these days instead of page count? When I was in school when I was younger, all assignments were page count. Many authors use word count as a motivational tool. To help them from getting stuck and editing each sentence over and over again as they write, they choose a minimum number of words they want to write each day. These words may not be perfect and will likely need to be heavily edited, but it gets the ideas down and keeps them from getting stuck on one area of their book. It’s a way to motivate them to get the book done. It works well for me, but I know others who don’t do well with it. The answer is one page single spaced or two pages double spaced. Now, depending on how you've setup your document your page count may vary slightly, but with Arial or Times New Roman 12 point font and conventional margins you should see similar results. Don't worry, it's far from the only brain food that'll help you write an essay. Check out our list of the best foods for brain fuel to see what else will get you off to the best start (and keep that flying start going!). I think it depends a lot on your personality, but forcing myself to be consistent day in and day out helps me get my books done. Without a daily word count, I would never complete them. For assignments that require double spacing, it would take approximately 250 words to fill the page. Again, the type of font used can make the word count higher or lower, but it’s a good rule of thumb for those who are simply looking for a general estimation. 3,000 words sounds like a lot, and in many ways it is â€" but with your watertight essay plan under your belt, it should just be a case of expanding on all the points you've already listed. Also, if you're using Microsoft Word to write your essay, make use of the automatic referencing system. Now it's time to gather the all-important information and quotes to support your arguments. It might seem a little counter-intuitive to start writing an essay before you've sourced all your quotes and references, but there's a method to our madness. Once you've done this, actually writing the essay should just be a case of bulking out each point and filling in the gaps. However, with a standard 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font and default page margins your results should be about the same. Examples of 750 word count pages include high school essays, questions for take home exams, product reviews and love letters. Use our online word count tool to quickly count how many words are in your essay or blog post. This is not accurate for academic papers with 1″ margins. This would depend heavily on how big/small you write. While your essay plan should see you through, there's nothing to say that more ideas won't occur to you as you go along. You've had your brain-fuelling lunch, and now it's time to get typing.

An Analysis of Racism in the 2005 Movie Crash - 1375 Words

An Analysis of Racism in the 2005 Movie Crash (Term Paper Sample) Content: Student NameName of the ProfessorEnglish 10125th June 2014An analysis of Racism in the 2005 movie CrashThe 2005 movie Crash, directed by Paul Haggis, is filled with innumerable examples of racial stereotyping and the same is apparent in the movie from the very beginning. The movie is a classic example of the prejudices borne by racist people in their minds and their perceptions against people of a different race. This movie of Paul Haggis had won the Oscar and it is essentially a drama about race and its impact on the people of various ethnicities living in Los Angeles. Haggis has a number of people in this movie coming for various ethnic backgrounds. There are African-American men and women, people form Hispanic culture, a family from Persia, as well as numerous Asians in the film. The scenes in the movie essentially switch from one another just because the story line of the initial characters intersects with each and every scene. Anybody viewing the movie for t he first time would be easily able to identify the emotionally charged themes of prejudice and racism. This paper attempts to analyze the racial tensions in Haggisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s Crash. The primary motive of Haggis in his movie Crash is to address some of the root causes of racism and racist stereotyping. There are a few opportunities for cross-cultural interactions in this nation and unless we deliberately seek them, then they just do not happen. Society needs to continue to have conversations about racism and not be so concerned with political accuracy always. If we attempt to interact with other cultures, we might find a lot of similarities. By doing so, probably, a few stereotypes that have apparently stood the test of time might be eradicated and we would be placed in a better position in the society in terms of racial tolerance. One of the plots in this movie involves a District Attorney who becomes worried that he might lose out on the black votes if he pursues the two black men who stole his vehicle, and if in case he fails to pursue them, he would be considered as a not so serious and liberal prosecutor. "Rick: Fuck! Why do these guys have to be black? I mean, why? No matter how we spin this thing, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬m either gonna lose the black vote or Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬m gonna lose the law and order vote! It can be said his behavior displays that of a majority of politicians that they will use race or ethnicity in any way that will help him politically. The District Attorneyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s statements would also suggest that Black people are not capable of separating loyalty to their race from the pursuit of criminals.Stereotypes can occur anywhere and are not simply restricted to the color of the skin or the neighborhoods. Racial discrimination can transpire through social class as well. This can create division within the same racial group as well CITATION Chr07 \l 16393 (Farris). In the movie, Cameron was portrayed as a wealthy, black, television actor and face scrutiny from both sides of the fence. In the film, the actress who plays Christine states that, "Oh? You werenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬t afraid that all your good friends at the studio were gonna read about you in the morning and realize heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s actually Black?" Another example of similar hatred and prejudice towards Blacks is evident at the beginning of the film when the Persian family tries to purchase a gun. The worker at the gun store made a few deliberate racist comments about the perceptions borne by the customers in their minds. There were a number of such references to the 9/11 mishap and the ghastly attacks on the twin towers as well as the planes that crashed through those towers. It did not matter to the clerk whether the two customers who came to buy the gun were Persians or Arab. A redundant theme was that post the 9/11 catastrophe, all the Middle Eastern people were regarded by the Americans as potential terrorists. It is remarkable that people have the capability to construe bad events and cast their own individual biases on the various ethnic groups to veneer their myriad feelings of anger, frustration, and fury etc. There is also evidence of cultural clash in the movie and this is displaye d by the Iranian store owner who deciphers the well-intentioned statements of the locksmith concerning a damaged door, as a ploy to gain more money CITATION The09 \l 16393 (The Los Angeles Times).A few citizens in this nation attribute the informal racism of white privilege to the formal racism that has been existent for much of the American history. Summer Freedom Changes For Football Season And...

And Now It’s Time for a Celebration of Learning Summer freedom changes to football season and standardized tests for students as they return to school. Back-to-school shopping has barely ended when most students start taking their first big tests, such as the SAT. Friday night hype and school pride fades into a tired Saturday morning in school where it is the student with her bubble sheet and booklet, twenty other kids, and that one guy who will not stop coughing. Tests like the SAT are believed to show a student’s knowledge well-enough to affect the course of their future. Most students believe this to be unfair, even those who have adequate access to preparatory courses and materials. However, not all students are rising from previous grades, or even coming from their own home. Many students go unthought-of, such as refugees from war torn countries. Children fleeing places such as Syria and Iraq will start school in the fall alongside the common American child if cert ain skills are deemed proficient. But most standards for proficiency fall at a minimal level, and put students in a difficult position that they may not fully understand. And this does not happen with just refugees; it happens to other marginalized groups in the United States. When people say that there are issues with tests and the way they are employed, they are not wrong, but the problem goes deeper than just the average American student. The controversies that tests create are valid to all students,Show MoreRelatedEssay On Play Space1350 Words   |  6 PagesKitchener within walking distance of city hall and has been opened since 1896 (City of Kitchener,2017 )The park has multiple play spaces such as the basketball court, Horseshoe pit, and it also has multiple open spaces for play such as soccer and football It is also riddled with public art such as the luggage project made in 2008 that represents the multi culturalism of the city of Kitchener and it consist of eight carved s uitcases that are placed throughout the park with labels with a message fromRead More_x000C_Introduction to Statistics and Data Analysis355457 Words   |  1422 PagesUnited States Introduction to Statistics and Data Analysis, Third Edition Roxy Peck, Chris Olsen, Jay Devore Acquisitions Editor: Carolyn Crockett Development Editor: Danielle Derbenti Assistant Editor: Beth Gershman Editorial Assistant: Ashley Summers Technology Project Manager: Colin Blake Marketing Manager: Joe Rogove Marketing Assistant: Jennifer Liang Marketing Communications Manager: Jessica Perry Project Manager, Editorial Production: Jennifer Risden Creative Director: Rob Hugel Art Director:Read MoreCountry Notebook Essay12249 Words   |  49 PagesWater management in Korea is difficult, especially because more than 60% of annual precipitation is lost as runoff during floods and torrential rains, while rivers dry up in the dry season. Jenifer Cantor Nurse

Question: a) You read about several different cases involving surrogacy. I want you to provide short summaries of 3 of these cases. Summarize the case involving Jennifer Cantor. Next summarize the case involving Dawne Dill. Last, summarize the case involving Cathy Hilling. b) We discussed two different kinds of surrogacy in Week Two. Explain this distinction. Next explain the sort of surrogacy in the case with Jennifer Cantor. Be sure to provide textual evidence to support your view. c) One worry we discussed in our readings on surrogacy involves the worry that surrogacy encourages women to develop a detachment from their babies and this is bad. Summarize this concern. In the Newsweek/Daily Beast article, the sort of issue comes up when the cases of Gernisha Myers and Stephanie Scott are discussed. As such, I want you to summarize the cases involving Gernisha Myers and Stephanie Scott. End by offering your thoughts on the strength of this concern with surrogacy. d) Explain why some people obje ct to surrogacy on the grounds that it leads to the exploitation of women, particularly the poor. This issue is touched on in the New York Times article. Given how surrogacy is currently practiced in the United States, and based what is said in the New York Times article, are poor women exploited as surrogates in the United States? e) At one point in the New York Times article, it mentions a Roman Catholic priest who points out that the Church frowns upon babies produced through surrogacy. However, the New York Times article does not go into much detail explaining the reasons why the priest frowned upon this. Using our readings from Week Two, elaborate on the reasons why the Roman Catholic priest frowned upon surrogacy. The author of the New York Times article, Alex Kuczynski, who is the woman who hired the surrogate Cathy Hilling, makes a short response to the priest. What is her response? Do you think that her response is good? Why or why not? f) One of the major issues in terms o f the moral permissibility of surrogacy involves the issue of whether it involves baby-selling. Using our readings from Week Two, explain both sides of this issue in the case with Jennifer Cantor. Why might someone think that there was no baby-selling involved in the cases with Jennifer Cantor? And explain why someone might think that there was baby-selling involved in the cases with Jennifer Cantor? End by saying if you think baby-selling is or is not involved in surrogacy in the case with Jennifer Cantor. g) End by offering up your own thoughts on the issue of surrogacy. Do you think it is morally permissible or not? Answer: 1. a) Jenifer Cantor is a surgiocgal nurse of Huntsvile, Ala. She is 34 years old and she wants to be pregnant. She has a daughter named Dahlia, 8 yerars old, and has no plan for another child. She had a contract with Kerry Smith and his wife Lisa about her surrogacy. Lisa had hysterectomy at 20-year-old age, therefore could not get a child. On March 20, 2008, Jenifer gave birth to two healthy 6 pound boys, named Ethan and Jonathan. She was paid $20,000 to $25,000. Dane Dill is a 32 year old woman with two sons, English teacher and married to Travis. She is now carrying a surrogate twin for anonymous European couple and the couple. One of the child of Dill is autistic and that is the reason she wants the money, for opening a gym for her son (Kuczynski, 2015). In the case of Cathy Hilling, she was pregnant and gave birth to the child on May 11. She had three healthy children and her husband Mick, who was the vice president of a credit union. Cathy delivered a boy in New jersey last year. The money was needed for helping her sons in college (Kuczynski, 2015). 1. b) There are two types of surrogacy, the genetic surrogacy and gestational surrogacy (Alghrani, 2012). The genetic surrogacy involves the use of one egg from the surrogate and the child have genetic relation with the surrogate, whereas in gestational surrogacy, surrogate does not have relation with child, no egg is used from surrogate. Jenifer Cantor had a surrogacy of gestational type, as no egg was used from her, and the child was not genetically similar to her. 1. c) Surrogacy influences a woman to be detached from the baby. In the case of Gernisha Myers, she was carrying the child of Karin and Lars, when asked about the attachment with the baby, she only said that, she know the baby is not her and she only feels like baby sitter, rather than a mother (com, 2015). In the case of Stephanie Scott, she was deeply attached with the baby, as after birth of the child, she was unable to look at the child, and felt wired, though she was aware of these issues by agency (Newsweek.com, 2015). The agencies tells about the issues regarding the surrogacy contract, but as the mother and child relation is the most beautiful relation in world, detachment with the baby hampers the mental status of the surrogate (Deonandan, Green Van, 2012). 1. d) Surrogacy is becoming an exploitation of specifically poor woman. This is because it is seen in study of Parks (2010) that, poor needy women are exploited by provision of less fee with more labor, which is unethical. Therefore, the third world country people are in danger to be exploited in this issue. 1. e) The Roman Catholic priest frowned upon surrogacy because, the procedure is unacceptable to roman catholic and natural law of consideration, that replaces the natural process of marital intercourse, involving a third party, which is surrogacy (Stearns, 2012). Alex responded shortly to the priest, he misguided her, but she thought child is a gift from god, and surrogacy brought her child, so this is not unethical practice. 1. f) Baby selling issue should be took in concern, it is not permissible, because some people thinks this is a baby selling process for getting money (Jadva et al. 2012). In Jennifer Cantor case, she was not as much attached with the child, and belonged from a well family, and the couple hired her treated good with her after delivery, so baby selling was not involved in this case.g) Learner thinks surrogacy is morally permissible if operated with ethical consideration, as it can bring happiness to an unfertile couple, and sometimes might help a needy woman (Chervenak McCullough, 2011). However, the misuse and exploitation of woman for money is a major topic for dilemma. From the viewpoint of Noonan, it is seen that, he thinks a fetus, after the third trimester have the right to live, and he supports the morale of personhood, which is being subjected to the argument. However, as being a person, fetus has the right to live, however, only if mothers life is at risk, abortion can be per missible, because in that case, it act as self-defense. On the other hand, Thomson thinks that, fetus has a right to live, while it is considered as a person, but for self-defense, it can be aborted. He explained her argument with three analogies, first, child growing in a house, supporting abortion for self-defense of mother, second, people seed analogy and the third one is Volinist analogy, supporting the fact of contraception failure and rape cases. In this cases, abortion cases are valid as it is against ones wish. Abortion is permissible in the cases of rape or risk of mothers, because it is related to human ethics and norms of society, but in contraception failure cases, abortion should not be permissible, in this case mother is previously known to the effects of sexual relationship, and a fetus having the right of life cannot be aborted only for one does not want to have it. Therefore, view of Thomson is stronger (Bailey, 2012). 1. b) In case 1, some babies having club feet, cleft lips and webbed fingers were aborted in England, which became a major public concern in 2003, when Jonna Jepson challenged Wst Merica police for not taking steps against doctors who did abortions, challenge failed. A question rose against the law, supporting rejection of fetus having minor disabilities. Club feet is a condition foot when sole is not placed in flat ground. It is a condition having cleft on lips, includes feeding problem, opening of mouth is in nose. The case 3 discusses the chances of abortion after knowing the fetus having Down syndrome. Sarah is an eleven years old girl having down syndrome and took [art in the campaign of hospital. The presidents supported their survival. Doctors recommend different tests for parents choice. Down syndrome is a genetic disorder, having third copy of 21 chromosomes, generally has mental disorders. Marquis view suggests that, the view fetus having FLO, killing a fetus is wrong, as the fetus is deprived of future value (Kaczor, 2011). One can use Marquis view that a fetus has FLO, that is why it should not be killed, which supports that abortion is not permissible, on the other hand, Marquis view for pro-choice, is if an woman is forced to be pregnant, and in first stage of pregnancy, fetus is not feeling pain, so, abortion is ok. Finally, Marquis position, abortion is not ok in these cases. 1. c) From the article, it is seen that, a woman becoming pregnant at college age, gets no support from education or social background, she is suggested to go through abortion. Educational system bears for abortion, but not for giving birth to her child. Forster think abortion is a rarely free choice because most of the time woman are forced to be aborted, because of lack of support, society thinks the baby can ruin her life, she have to sacrifice educational, personal and professional life for the baby (Merino, 2012). Foster claimed, abortion have the ability to harm an woman by introducing infertility, breast cancer, further miscarriages and death also. It also affects the mental status of an woman. One should listen to a woman for reason of abortion, and then with a framework one should attempt to eliminate the major cause of abortion. Women should be engaged in education, technology, health care or business. Pregnancy care centers should highlight life-affirming choices (Karnein, 2012). References Alghrani, A. (2012). Africans were bought to America and sold to Americans as workers. It wasnt long before slavery became a controversial issue. Over the course of almost two and a half centuries the debate of weather to continue or abolish slavery went on. The supporters and the abolitionist had their arguments on how they viewed slavery, and the government played their part too. Those who supported slavery were for the most part southerners. Senator John C. Calhoun states that slavery is a positive good.He says that through slavery, the conditions Of the races improved physically, morally, and intellectually and the two races of black and white were brought together. Microbio Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Microbio - Essay Example 84). It displays immunological memory through which it recalls having encountered an invading organism thus reacting more rapidly on the same organism on subsequent exposure. This paper is a discussion that compares and contrasts the innate and the acquired immune responses. When a person comes into contact with an infectious agent, the first defenses to counter the infection are physical, as well as, chemical barriers like; antimicrobial proteins that are secreted at mucosal surfaces, which deny the microbes from getting into the body. In the case that these barriers are overwhelmed, or dodged, other immune system components get into action. The complement system is able to recognize the foreign organisms, as well as, phagocytic white blood cells like the innate immune system macrophages and neutrophils, and destroy them immediately (Minnicozzi 115) In contrast, the acquired immune response, also referred to as the adaptive immune system, develops in days. It is, however, able to el iminate infections in a more efficient way due to the lymphocytes exquisitely recognition functions that are specific. These cells are able to respond to every antigen through antigen receptors that are highly specialized which are present on the lymphocytes surface. The lymphocytes present in the body in their billions, possess a vast range of antigen receptors collectively, which make it possible for the immune system to identify, and take action to virtually any antigen an individual may be exposed to. This enables the adaptive immunity to focus on overcoming the pathogens that have eluded or overcome the innate immunity. Additionally, the innate immunity defense systems are effective in battling many pathogens. However, they are constrained by their reliance on germline-encoded receptors in order for them to identify microorganisms that have the ability to evolve more rapidly than the infected host. This is why they are able to only identify microorganisms that bear surface mole cules, which are common to most pathogens conserved over the evolution course. Most pathogenic bacteria contain a protective capsule that has evolved that makes it possible for them to hide these molecules making it difficult for them to be recognized and phagocytosed. Viruses do not carry invariant molecules like those of bacteria, and the macrophages rarely recognizes them. However, viruses, as well as, encapsulated bacteria may nevertheless be picked by dendritic cells via the macropinocytosis nonreceptor-dependent process. This may then reveal the molecules that mask their infectious nature activating the dendritic cell to present the antigens that belong to them to lymphocytes. (Kobayashi et al. 5123). All the blood cellular elements such as the red blood cells which transport oxygen, platelets for triggering blood clot in tissues that are damaged, and the immune system white blood cells, originate from the bone marrow’s hematopoietic stem cells. Since these stem cells h ave the ability to produce every different blood cell types, they are mainly referred to as pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells. They give rise to additional limited developmental potential that are the instant progenitors of platelets, red blood cells, and the two major

The Social Media Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

The Social Media - Essay Example I support the view that ‘Social media is constructive’; it constructs relationships, it constructs one’s knowledge, and it is beneficial from personal to professional levels. Those who are in the habit of using social networking websites are more knowledgeable than ordinary people. Social networking websites, to be specific ‘Facebook’ which is the famous website used in the world, helps in cross-cultural communication, i.e. we communicate with people not only from different cities of our country but also with people all over the world. This communication helps to develop understanding of different cultures, lifestyles and opinions of people. During the communication different people share different experiences in the form of narratives and we in return share our experiences, this therefore leads to development of knowledge about experiences, cultures and people. One of the main roles that Facebook plays is that of reconnecting people and older acquaintances. This reconnection is so simple that a limited knowledge about the target person is enough to re-establish a relationship. There have been multiple incidents where departed relatives have met again only because of the social networking websites. In words of Browling (n.p), social networking websites provide a mean of reconnecting to the past. ‘Spread the word’ seems to be the major task of such websites. People create different communities and groups on Facebook. These groups can be any group based on any constructive idea promoting one common goal. Spreading the messages gets easier and faster through such websites. The examples are endless from all the corners of society, be it personal or professional. The point is clear that social media is more than a technology. It is a sub-culture adopted by the people around the globe. To conclude it can be said that this

Media coverage of Big Brother Essay Example for Free

Media coverage of Big Brother Essay An analysis of how the notorious figure Jade Goody was represented in media coverage of Big Brother. Despite being the second last evicted from the big brother house, and apart from being popular in the public viewers eyes, Jade Goody has been portrayed by the media as a very objectionable individual whom is probably labelled as the worst housemate ever. In The Sun Jade has been exposed, as a stupid and drippy contestant who they strongly feel should be evicted from the house as soon as possible because of their stereotypical ways of commenting about an individual. The language in The Sun is very inadequate, Dated 18 June an article in The Sun uses other contestants in the house as their main evidence of her mouthy manners, which has effected and brought a commotion into many of the media press for Big Brother. Jade aimlessly, is not aware of the outside world. The sun uses slang to get messages across to the reader which puts the readers mind in a state of informality, something they too can have a laugh at. In article the press go a little too deep into her personal life and use a coverage about her jailbird dad to describe her outside life. They use this epithet in order to create tension and prejudice about jades conduct in the Big Brother house. Jade here is represented as a bad girl from a bad family who maybe has a lot of things that she can be contrasted too which stereotypically is the way The Sun label people. Being called a pig and being voted out, as a pig is not a very satisfying way to find out what the press has said about you. Jade in articles written by The Sun. Another headline that starts using her sexuality is the article dated June 19 in which the headline metaphorically refers to the sexual innuendo they make about her and PJ sleeping together, toe-job to blows job is connotation of her sexual life. In that particular article the writer tried to create jade as a person who is annoying as she is referred to as mouthy jade, tearful which doesnt show her as a strong participator at the beginning of something that can alter her way life. Using Jades mothers sexuality lesbian mother affects the public as they are put in spot where they are hypnotised to think that it is wrong to not be heterosexual. To the public reading an article about the sex life of celebrities amuses them and brings entertainment to their minds, however it can be a very sad thing to where the celebrity feels betrayed by people around them. The articles written by The Sun use many personal terms and stories to attract attention that it seems that the media like to exploit her private life to the public for personal rights. But it seems to be lacking in justice because doesnt jade have her rights as an individual? Her mother is described as an unmarried Jackie Budden, which adds to the pile of personal matters. Does it really matter if her mother wasnt married and it shouldnt really have an effect or change o the way jade will carry on winning to second place. The Sun seem very bias, they dont seem to like jade goody because of the fact that her dads in jail, her mothers sexuality and the way it differs from jade. Being a dental nurse has been contrasted to the way she doesnt seem to have helped people like her because in the sun she has been nominated as the nations most hated. It shows that they use her occupation too to describe her failure in the house. Many other types of comparisons are made about jade, for instance in an another article her yawing caught by a camera is contrasted to a baboon mimicking jade which is rather ironic about her nature. Many pictures that are put into the articles by The Sun portray her as an unflattering person, big boobs all carefully selected to make her look unattractive and not someone youd particularly want to follow in step wise. In the Jade should keep her big mouth shut article a picture of disgustingly easting a pizza fits with the heading. Underneath they use an alliteration to bring out the pun in her. Another form of imagery used by The Sun is a picture of her breast falling out of her bikini which has a heading of Jade Boobs again which could be a attire about her weight which isnt a nice way of representing someone. Throughout her time in Big Brother The Sun used many atrocious, narrow-minded comments about Jade to in a sense entertain the readers. However by presenting her as a pig, dimwit and many other forms of pessimistic and notorious descriptions the sun created a hateful and bitter side to jade. Because of the homophobic, stereotypical reputation that The Sun holds it fits the nature of the articles written by them to comment upon her like this. However in The Daily Mirror they use another way of presenting jade. Despite the fact that she may have been named a pig, a cow it doesnt stop them creating the anti-Big Brother campaign, which they take total, sides on Jade. The front page of the Daily Mirror has 3 pictures of Jade looking rather depressed and isolated. She is wearing a crucifix; with a white top, which could be a technique, this paper uses to bring out another side of Jade. Her innocence most likely. The headline starts off with Nobody Loves me, and underneath the picture the reporter has added his feelings but I do. which creates anxiety as well as excitement to the readers of who could be the person who does, and why. The page 10 coverage is rather different to the Suns reports on Jade as here she has been described as not the sharpest pin but who cares. This is a turning point to a debateable question of whether jade is a good or bad contestant. The article includes better pictures of her smiling, looking like she can have fun and as an innocent person. The article itself is optimistic about jade Kevin OSullivan admits that he has sympathy for the divine ms Jade which is rather ironic in sense for those who have just read the sun articles on jade goody. The article uses antonyms from the articles that are very pessimistic about her. The language here is more sympathetic and close to the heart. It seems more comfortable because the reader doesnt have to feel like they are pushed to believe each word. However here she is placed as a poor girl who richly deserves to win. However there are mocks about how she wont win beauty contests and how she is a blonde bumshell- sorry bombshell which shows that the writer in a way does see her as unpleasant he tries to keep it discreet. The article states how the reasons why they have created an anti big brother campaign was because they thought that they too fitted the crowd therefore it was time for a change. This represents jade as another person, here in this article she is not diversely exploited but mildly commented upon. It also seems that because of the fact that the sun has been commented upon by many people the Daily mirror needed to avoid being commented upon too. By creating a kind image to the reader they can help attract more readers. The daily mirror by adopting the title The anti-Big Brother campaign seems to have distanced them from war, since September 11th. By placing another anti subject apart from it helps readers get away from tension and to having some form of gentle entertainment. Both article pity jade however in the sun they use personal comments to create subversion by the readers for jade goody whereas in The Daily mirror they try to create sympathy and warmth. It really is a matter of decisions made by the readers of whom they take sides on. Jade has been presented rather poorly throughout her time in Big Brother due to her looks and personality. By creating her as a person that is ironically a failure in the show they have been able to capture a form gossip column for their readers to enjoy.

Jaques Louis David Essay -- Art History Neo-Classical

1. Introduction Set on a stage of revolution and Enlightenment, the Neo-Classical period presents a broad and interesting topic. Jacques Louis David was the first political painter, and a true revolutionary, but one cannot disengage his art work from the social and political systems of the period. Therefore, this essay will present an overview of the social context and systems of Pre Revolution France, Neoclassicism and how David’s work was influenced by it and how his work influenced it. Also important to note are the art work that influenced Neoclassicism. 2. Social and Artistic Climate in the 18th Century 2.1. Neoclassicism Neoclassicism refers to the style of painting, sculpture, decorative arts and architecture used from about 1773. Neoclassicism was, at first a reaction to the â€Å"triviality† of the Rococo style, which was seen as selfish, decadent and with no regard for society. Throughout the seventeenth century, and during the Rococo period, the French Academy promoted a more classical style. It was because of this that French artists of the late eighteenth century accepted the New Classicism that was to be the next popular style. The Neo-classical period was influenced by two major features: The first was the heavy influence of Nicolas Poussin (1593/4 – 1665). Cardinal Barberini commissioned Poussin to make drawings of all the classical art and architecture he could find, which had a great impact on his subsequent work. His work was ordered and idealised, he did not, â€Å"record nature as he found it, but instead organised natural elements and figures into idealised compositions† (Stockstad and Cateforis: 784). An example of his classically arranged Landscape is Landscape with Saint John on Patmos (1640, Oil ... .... Simplicity and soberness of the composition allowed David to create a sense of martyrdom and spirituality in the face of the dead man. While there is a definite Neo-Classical (Poussinesque) influence on this painting, it bares a striking resemblance to the Baroque painting by Zurbaran entitled Saint Serapion (1628, Oil on canvas). David was in full control of the art of France by this stage. 5. Conclusion From conformist to revolutionary, David dominated the face of art during the Neo-classical period and for many years after. His extensive teaching network perpetuated his ideals and values into many students who continued in his line. David personally trained many of the important artists that emerged in the early 1800’s. His authority is evident in The portrait of Jean-Baptiste Belley (1797, Oil on canvas), by Anne-Louis Girodet-Trioson, one of his pupils.

[Enter Post Title Here] Second language acquisition Foreign language: Learning language that is not generally spoken in the surrounding community. Second language: Learning a language that is spoken in the surrounding community. Acquisition and learning: Activities associated with learning have traditionally been used in language teaching in schools and have a tendency when successful to result in more knowledge about language.Acquisition barriers: The optimum age for learning may be during the years from about ten to 16 when the flexibility of our inherent capacity for language has not been completely lost. Affective factors: If we are stressed, uncomfortable, self-conscious, or unmotivated we are unlikely to learn anything. Focus on method: Despite all these barriers, the need for instruction in other languages has led to a variety of educational approaches and methods aimed at fostering l2 learning. The grammer_translation method: Vocabulary lists and sets of grammar rules are used to define the target of learning , memorization is encouraged and written language rather that spoken language is emphasized. The audio lingual method: A systematic presentation of the structures of the l2 moving from the simple to the more complex in the form of drills that the student had to repeat.Communicative approaches: The reaction against the artificiality of pattern practice and also against the belief that consciously learning the grammar rules of a language will necessarily result in an ability to use the lang. Transfer: Using sounds, expression or structures from the L1 when performing in the L2. Interlanguage: Process that certainly contains aspects of the L1 and L2 but which is an inherently variable system with rules of its own. Communicative competence: The general ability to use language accurately appropriately and flexibly.
